Intro
Surrounded by forests and meadows in the heart of Slovenia, a few kilometres from the town of Postojna there is the Castle Prestranek.
In the historical sources has been mentioned already in 1581st. It has been built by barons Edlings and sold after almost 100 years. The new owners have been changing until 1728 when the mansion and its belonging propriety were bought by the Emperor Charles VI who united it with the stud farm in Lipica. It remained a court stud farm until the First World War than it passed into military hands. Only after the Second World War the Castle Prestranek again revived as part of the Lipica stud. It has become private propriety after the Slovenia’s independence and it has focused on horse breeding and tourism.

Today the estate covers about 300 hectares of land. Part of this it is a nice refreshment room with apartments, numerous spacious stalls for horses; an expansive inner courtyard has been rearranged in a quality indoor arena, close to the outdoor riding ground and waste terrain suitable for horseback riding and cycling or walking.

The sense of freedom given by the unspoilt nature and animals is inevitable.
